Living History 1963
Hi, I'm Bob Yaeger, founder of Petes first, and this is my story. When I was eight years old I ran up To Pete's car and said," Did you do it? Did you do it?" As Pete turned and looked at me he said "Yes I'm a major leaguer!" I said "Would you sign my baseball glove or my ball bat?" "Nope" he said "I've got something better than that." He reached into his car and pulled out a picture post card of himself in a Reds uniform. He signed it and as he handed it to me he said "That's my very first autograph as a major leaguer."
I've been holding on to this one of a kind autograph for almost half a century. I realized a few months ago that all sports fans are being punished by keeping Pete out of the hall of fame. Even a murderer is permitted out of jail after ten to twenty years. I refuse to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame until it is complete. And we all know it will not be complete until Pete is allowed in. I wanted to share this autograph with everyone who wants to help get Pete's life time ban lifted.
On the front of each of the white and red trim t-shirts I've placed Pete's picture and the words "Pete's first autograph as a major leaguer." On the back it reads "I believe Pete belongs in the hall of fame" and this web site www.petesfirst.com.
You can help the cause by ordering one or more t-shirts. When we all wear our t-shirts to all sporting events we will be heard. I want to see Pete in the hall of fame before I die. Get involved, write Pete a letter, wear your t-shirt and support the cause.
GO PETE!
